Camps Bay Beach is a broad and long, sandy beach easily accessed from the road. It is lined with palm trees, has a grassy area, and is close to a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants. From the beach you can look out into the freezing waters of the Atlantic or up onto the slopes of Table Mountain and Lions Head.

Camps Bay Beach is popular for families and is big enough to attract games of soccer, bat-and-ball, and volleyball. There are also normally vendors moving along the beach selling drinks and ice creams. In summer there are even umbrellas and deck chairs for rentals.

Because the beach is West facing you can also catch some spectacular sunsets.

Tips
  • This beach can get windy. If so Clifton beaches are close by and normally sheltered from the wind
  • In summer parking is very limited - you'll probably have a bit of a walk ahead of you
  • Try not to be alone on the beach at night
  • Deck chairs and umbrellas are normally available for rental

Getting There

Camps Bay is close to the city. Get there by driving over Kloofnek and
down towards the ocean. It is also accessible from Sea Point via Bantry
Bay.
