Charly's bakery (pronounced as Charlies Bakery) is extremely popular among Cape Town's locals because of their excellent and delicious products as well as the funky presentation applied to everything they do. Brightly coloured cup cakes with gold glitter and cheeky messages, pink petit fours, almond tartlets, brownies, etc are all on offer and all of high quality.
Charly's is also well known for creating beautiful and delicious cakes and tarts of all kinds. They make these to order and this appears to be their specialty. That said, Charly's Bakery is worth the visit just for the great treats.
- Go early to be sure that you will actually get something! Remember they are only open during the week for lunch, coffee and sitting down. On Saturdays they're open for 90 mins for collections of order and if you want to buy cupcakes, cookies, whole cakes, etc
- Charly's is on Canterbury which is fairly central in Cape Town (De Waal becomes Roeland)
- If you are heading down Roeland (towards parliament) you'd go past the set of traffic lights at the Ferrari shop.
- At the next set of traffic lights you'd turn right into Canterbury Street
- Charlys is just after the first stop sign on the left at #38 and is brightly painted - hard to miss

Coffee shop too
I see that they have also set up what looks like a little coffee shop. I saw a few tables set up outside with people drinking coffee and chatting. Not the greatest of spots but Roeland Street is definitely have a bit of a revival...
They have now moved just
They have now moved just arround the corner...going up roeland street (aways from palament at the second set of robots (fruit and veg city on your left) turn left and follow down that road, after a stop street there is a pink building! Worth the stop!
