Café Gainsbourg is a restaurant on Kloof Street near Asoka. Gainsbourg has a fairly small menu but the food is good and the restaurant itself is great. The front of the restaurant is open to the street which is great on warm days and evenings.
However, on cold days and nights they only have canvas walls protecting you from the cold. Even with the heaters this isn't enough protection for most. Anyway, one of the attractions of Café Gainsbourg is the open-to-the-street feel.
Gainsbourg is open all day including breakfast. The menu includes pasta's, salads, steaks, lamb shank, sandwhiches, etc. The pasta's are good, but some may feel the portion is a little small.
- If possible go to Cafe Gainsbourg on a warm day or evening so that you can enjoy the fact that the restaurant opens onto the bustling Kloof Street

- On your right as you are heading up Kloof Street towards the mountain
- If you get to Saigon or Asoka then you have gone too far

Not Good.No friendly service and the food was tasteless. No publicity for Gainsbourgs (French singer and songwriter) music.
Good food, nice atmosphere.
My food was delicious and not overpriced. The chocolate brownies are especially good. I found the service to be good, although I did have to wait a while for my main course.
