Café Sofia is a small and modern tapas restaurant and bar on Kloof Street. The menu includes a variety of light meals and tapas choices for a relaxed meal and drink. There is a bar within the restaurant and a fairly extensive cocktail menu. Café Sofia is open for breakfast lunch and dinner daily.

The meze, tapas and antipasto dishes are served on small plates with the intention that everyone at the table shares. This creates a fun and relaxed atmosphere and also allows a variety of foods to be tasted by all.

Excellent

I ate at Cafe Sofia on Friday night and it was superb. Our waiter was great and there was a good vibe, but it was the excellent food that made the evening.

We chose the 8 samples meal from the tapas menu (think it was about R104). There is a list of 20 different tapas options of which we chose 8. Everything comes on one enormous plate with some pita. Easily enough of each sample for both of us to enjoy and all the food was excellent. I love eating in that style.

I highly recommend giving Cafe Sofia a try.

Free internet access

I've heard that you get 20MB free wifi access at Sofia (also at the one in Sea Point). Pretty cool

Good breakfast deals

Cafe Sofia are running some excellent breakfast specials at the moment - to be recommended.
- R20 for 2 eggs, bacon, toast and coffee
- R25 for omelet with tomato, feta and chorizo, toast and coffee
- R15 for muffin and coffee

We have tried the eggs and the omelet specials and both were good (especially for that price!). They allowed us to switch bacon and chorizo for mushrooms which was very reasonable.

Ever since Cafe Sofia has opened I noticed that at first there was no business at all
but once they copied Arnolds concept of great value breakfast, things are starting to happen.
I just wish they had their own ideas. Hopefully they will make it in the long term and are not going the same way all the other cheap places have gone.
the night trade is pretty hopeless un fortunately.
But it is a nice looking place, but a bit too enpty.
