Melissa's is a trendy café and restaurant on Kloof Street. They specialize in a homemade feel and serve breakfast and lunch buffet plates priced by weight. The food is of a high quality and feels healthy. Expect to find quiches, warm chicken meals, plenty of salads, sandwiches and good coffee.
There are not many tables available and Melissa's fills up quickly. There is a window bar with a view of Kloof Street and stacks of magazines and newspapers - perfect for solitary diners.
As well as being a restaurant and café, Melissa's also specialize in selling a wide variety of specialty foods and treats. You can find plenty of 'handmade' products such as jams, preserves, cookies, nougat, and much more - high quality and high price!

Expensive but good quality
The quality of the food at Melissa's is excellent but you certainly pay for it. I had a toasted cheese and tomato for R36! It was a small little sandwich all alone on the plate (no chips or salad or anything). Tasty but that is pretty steep!
The buffet is R15 per 100g which adds up really, really quickly. Don't expect to pay much less that R50. Good quality though
