Ricks Cafe Americain is inspired by the cafe of the same name from the classic movie Casablanca. The decor and menu both illustrate this influence heavily which makes for a unique dining experience. Set in a 100 year old Victorian building on Park Road, the ambiance of the restaurant is relaxed and comfortable - with a fire in winter.
The food is a mix of North African, Mediterranean and American - burgers, steaks, tajines, and tapas. Take a look at the current menu here. There is a large wine menu which and wine can be ordered by the bottle, glass or cravat (which gives quiet a lot more than a single glass). Note that you cannot bring your own wine to this restaurant.
There is a bar section in the restaurant which sometimes also offers live music (phone to check). There is an upstairs lounge area where you can relax on couches and order drinks from the bar. On clear nights you can also get onto the balcony which offers views of Cape Town and fresh air
- There is a little parking area opposite Greens which sometimes has parking. Otherwise the Lifestyle Centre will have parking available
- The tapas menu is quite extensive and it can be fun to order two items from this menu instead of a main course
- Note that Ricks does not allow you to bring your own wine

Ricks is always fun
Ricks is always a good night out. But make sure that you are seated well away from the door to the smoking section
