Drakenstein Lion Park is an organization dedicated to re-homing of lions that have been rescued from lives in intolerable conditions. For instance, they recently received 3 cubs rescued from a circus in Europe (you can read details about the lions on their site).

There are currently about 20 lions housed at 7.5 hectare the park, and the idea is that they will be allowed to live out their days in peace at the park. Visitors are welcome daily and the proceeds are used to continue funding the park.

For the super keen there is an option to stay in a 'well appointed' tent in the middle of the park. The idea is that you will get more of an experience sleeping amongst the lions and a meal in included in the price of R550 per person.

There is also a deli from which meals and drinks can be purchased.

Tips
  • Feeding Times are on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 16h00
