About a 1 hour drive up the West Coast from Cape Town is the West Coast National Park. The park is primarily home to many bird species including thousands of roosting seabirds, but you will also find Tortoises, various buck species, Ostriches and other small animals. Other main attractions are the beautiful Langabaan Lagoon and the spring flowers which carpet the area.

There is a visitor centre and restaurant at Geelbek alongside several bird hides offering visitors the chance to see the many roosting seabirds. You are likely to see flamingoes, penguins, Cape Gannets and many other seabirds.

In August to September flower season arrives and the West Coast National Park becomes an excellent area to view the many flowers.  Flowers are best viewed in the Postberg section which is only open to the public during the flower season. Postberg is also home to big antelopes like eland. There are also several jetties and beaches alongside the Langabaan Lagoon which can easily be visited.
