Lazari is a small vibey café in Vredehoek and very close to the Gardens Center. There is a small but excellent menu chalked up on the wall which offers breakfasts, pastas, sandwiches and crispy pitas. The food is of a high quality and the prices are very reasonable.
The café itself is open and the massive windows provide plenty of natural light and some views of Table Mountain
Lazari is very popular an unless you get there early you may have to wait a short time for a table - especially on weekends. This popularity also means that the tiny kitchen sometimes takes a while to get your food out - just enjoy the vibe and coffee while you wait.
Fresh cupcakes, ciabattas, and croissants are baked daily and on sale from the counter.
- The rump, rocket and relish ciabatta sandwich is excellent and well worth R42
- Lazari is opposite the Seven Eleven on Upper Buitenkant street just above the Gardens Center
- From Orange get onto Upper Buitenkant and head up the hill (Upper Buitenkant is accessible from Orange Street)
- Turn left at the Seven Eleven and Lazari is immediately on your left

The cupcakes are really good and for R8 your can't easily go wrong
Lemon Meringue is also great
Has to be one of the best I've had anywhere. Lazari is a great little spot for meals, but don't neglect the cakes and treats. Brownies with cheesecake filling, fudge, chocolate crunchies, lemon meringue... All really good.
