Harries pancakes is a little restaurant at the Clock Tower (a short walk from the V&A Waterfront) that specializes in serving a variety of pancakes. The pancakes themselves are physically thick, but taste light - a good combo for holding fillings well but tasting delicious.
There are several savory options including chicken curry, bobotie, spinach and feta, trout and ostrich. These generally cost from R35 to R50. Note that although tasty these pancakes are not huge and are better suited as a snack than a serious meal.
To follow the savory there is a range of sweet options with everything from cinnamon and sugar to milk tart. You can of course create your own pancake from options on the menu.
There is seating inside as well as outside for enjoying the location on warm days.
- The staff is generally happy to create mixes for you - share two different pancakes between two of you
- You can get to the Clock Tower area by walking across the bridge from the Waterfront (follow signs or ask people)
- You can also get to the Clock Tower directly by taking Dock Road at the bottom of Buitengracht and then keeping right at the traffic circles
- There is parking available at the Clock Tower
- As you walk down into the Clock Tower area Harries Pancakes is on the bottom left corner (bottom right as you come over the bridge from the Waterfront)
Size of meal
I have been before when my dining company have been quite satisfied by the portions. If you have a full savoury pancake it should keep you going, especially if you follow that with a sweet one!
