The Two Oceans Aquarium is Cape Town's world class aquarium showcasing more than 3000 animals including sharks, turtles, seals, crabs, seahorses and many, many more. The exhibits are informative, well maintained and beautiful. Helpful and enthusiastic volunteers are also normally on hand to answer any questions that you may have.

Several of the exhibits are aimed at children. For instance there are touch pools where kids are encouraged to become involved under the watchful eyes of volunteers.

The aquarium is situated very close to the V&A Waterfront so it is easily accessible and there is parking available.

Tips
  • Feeding times can be pretty entertaining so try to time your visit to take advantage of this. Details are on the site but seals are fed 11h00 and 14h00 while the sharks (and other predators) are fed at 15h00
  • You can arrange to do some diving in the shark tank

Getting There

The aquarium is on Dock Road very near the V&A Waterfront.

From the N2:

  • Take the N2 towards the city
  • Turn right towards the V&A Waterfront at the first traffic lights (sign posted)
  • Take the first left at the first traffic circle
  • Drive 2km, the Two Oceans Aquarium is on the right hand side just after the road bends right

I wasn’t too impressed, and I’m gonna say that right off the bat.

It was, I think, a little over priced to watch fish go round and round and round in a tank. When I think two oceans I think of The Little Mermaid and wonderful underwater sea activates and singing crabs ... there were no singing crabs.

Feeding time would the best time to go, I wouldn’t know cause I waited around for that but to save myself from falling asleep or chocking on penguin I left ....

My final view point on this place- Not bad if you want to go on a date with your bird and look at pretty things or to take the kids to annoy the bajesus out of other people like you and me ....

Oh, and its smells ... alot ....

It was fantastic

I had a wonderful time, did you know that you can bring your school group to the Aquarium and do an education "lesson" in their wetlabs it was so great to be able to Touch star fish and sea urchins the environmental teachers are amazing.

I have a 2 year old daughter and she was awestuck by the kelp forest and the nemo tank that she could crawl in between

REALLY AWESOME!!!!

A real family outing

My wife and I took our family to the aquarium on Sunday and we had a blast, there were actually divers diving in the predato tank at the time and the Sting rays are HUGE!!!

I felt like a kid again running around from one exhibit to the other! there Retaurant is also really child friendly!
