The V&A Waterfront is Cape Town's most well known shopping mall largely because of its amazing location. On the edge of the working harbor (where you can often see seals) and with amazing views up onto Table Mountain and Devils Peak, the Waterfront offers a beautiful and interesting shopping location for locals and tourists.
There are plenty of restaurants (full list here) on offer from fast food to some serious up-market restaurants. There are also plenty of cafes and coffee shops within the mall and some fun pubs outside.
The Waterfront has just been extended to include far more parking and substantially more shopping locations. There are over 400 stores catering to most needs. Most of the large South African retailers are there, along with a multitude of up-market clothing stores. Here is a store list
There is often entertainment on offer on the waterfront area of the mall and there is always plenty to see in this busting area. The V&A Waterfront is an important stop for most visitors to Cape Town, especially if interested in a shopping stop.

- The Waterfront is one of the most sign-posted spots in Cape Town – just follow the signs
- Head towards Cape Town city, centre and follow the signs from there
- From the bottom of Buitengracht turn onto Western Boulevard (large intersection and the road heads up a hill alongside a bridge
- After the road has descended slightly and curved to the right look out for the speed trap (60kmph)
- Keep on the far right and two lanes veer off to a traffic light and a sharp right
- This is Lower Portswood Road - drive down here until the traffic circle
- Take a left at the traffic circle and you will begin to see many parking garages - the waterfront is the large building on your right
